General Information on Rasmussen College

The college is a multi-regional institution originally founded in 1900 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, as the Rasmussen Practical School of Business. Currently there are over 12,000 students across all of the campuses and studying online. There are a total of 16 campuses nationwide.

Rasmussen College offers a wide range of degree programs in six schools of study. Five out of six schools have programs that can be completed entirely online.

Admissions and Enrollment

Prospective students need to submit an application, take an entrance exam, provide high school or college transcripts and attend an orientation before starting classes. ACT or SAT scores are not required. All paperwork and questions will be managed by the college's admissions representatives.

Schools at Rasmussen College

School of Allied Health

This school is for those who would like to work in a health-related field. Specialty areas of study include massage therapy, medical lab technician duties, exercise science and healthcare management. The School of Allied Health offers diplomas and associate's degree programs, as well as one bachelor's degree program in healthcare management.

School of Business

The main degree program at Rasmussen College's School of Business is a Bachelor of Science in Business Management program. Possible careers for business management majors include account manager, office manager and supervisor. In addition to the bachelor's degree programs, the School of Business also offers diplomas and associate's degrees.

School of Education

The School of Education does not have a bachelor's degree program. Students can earn an associate's degree in early childhood education and a certificate as a childcare specialist. In addition, they can earn an associate's degree in business management with a specialization in child development. Examples of early childhood program areas are child and family studies, English language learning, child development and special needs education.

School of Justice Studies.

Possible careers obtained by graduates of Rasmussen's School of Justice Studies include corrections officer, police officer and court official. The main degree program leads to a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. In addition, students can earn certificates and associate's degrees in fields such as paralegal studies, law enforcement and human services.

School of Nursing

Students can earn an associate's degree or a diploma in practical nursing, as well as an associate's degree in professional nursing. Practical nurses provide minimal care under the direction of a registered nurse or a physician. Professional nurses are more hands-on and are eligible to take the exam to become a registered nurse. Rasmussen College's facilities include fully simulated hospital rooms and doctors' offices.

School of Technology and Design

The School of Technology and Design offers associate's degrees in information systems management, multimedia technologies, Internet marketing and software systems design. The information systems degree features concentrations in areas such as network security, database administration and Web programming. There are also bachelor's degree programs in game design and simulation production or digital design and animation.
