Test grades are up in Missouri! According to Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Missouri's Class of 2004 posted higher scores on both the verbal and math portions of the SAT compared to last year and are scoring well above national averages.

According to Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, www.dese.mo.gov, each student must satisfy the following requirements to qualify for high school graduation:

  • Three units of Communication Arts (including grammar, composition, reading, speaking, and interpreting literature)
  • Two units of Mathematics (emphasis on problem-solving)
  • Two units of Science
  • Two units of Social Studies (including civics)
  • One unit Fine Arts (dance, music, visual arts, or theater)
  • One unit Practical Arts (including life skills or career education)
  • One unit of Physical Education
  • At least ten units of Electives (carefully selected to ensure mastery of important basic knowledge, skills, and competencies that may otherwise not have been mastered)
