Agricultural science is an area of study best suited for those interested in working in outdoor environments. Students will learn about modern agriculture and how it currently functions in society.
Tufts University
Tufts University offers courses in agricultural science and policy. Agricultural systems, policy, and management practices will be discussed. Soils, water, air, energy, plant nutrients, crops and livestock production will also be covered, in addition to agricultural system conservation. Each course consists of four quizzes, to go with various documents, articles and books - one of which includes Dust Bowl, The Southern Plains in the 1930s by Donald Worster. Final assignments for each course will include papers on things like farms and policy goals.
Utah State University
Utah State University offers courses in food safety, plants and chemicals. Topics include food additives and organisms, storage mistakes and food reactions. Students will also learn how to prune shrubs and deciduous trees, in addition to using chemicals to control plant diseases and infestations. Commercial and residential pesticides will also be discussed. These video courses can be streamed or downloaded.
