Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
Students wishing to learn economics can find a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses through MIT's OpenCourseWare. A number of subjects are discussed, such as the impact government and organizations have on the economy. These classes help students examine the economy in relation to the public sector's role, why governments might intervene and how much, and the response by private agents. They also learn about government competition policy and market power and the government's role in markets in the case of failure of competitive equilibria. Courses that deal with how the economy affects things like employment, wage, immigration and turnover are also taught.
Understanding economic models, theories and statistics is important for economics majors. Several of such classes allow students to learn concepts like regional and dynamic econometric modeling, game theory, instrumental variables, limited dependent variable and probability. Students also have the ability to analyze economic decisions as it relates to market structure, industrial performance and international trade.
