Free European History Courses

Here are several online European History courses offered free by five top universities: Yale University, the University of Massachusetts Boston, Open University, UC Berkeley, and Utah State University.

Yale University

Despite its reputation for being a pricey Ivy League school, Yale is no stranger to sharing free information. In Introduction to Ancient Greek History, get a basic handling of Greek in the Classical Era and before. France Since 1871, in contrast, explores the emergence of political views and transformations in a modern culture.

University of Massachusetts Boston

Among the free courses offered by UMass Boston is Modern Irish History from 1800 to Present, which introduces learners to the nationalism of independent Ireland. Another course surveys The Dark Ages, from the fall of the Roman empire, to the spread of Christianity, to Viking invasions.

The Open University

The Open University contains several European History courses. The Roman Empire: Introducing Some Key Terms gives continuing learners some cultural terminology to better understand ancient Roman culture. The Holocaust covers precursors to World War II, anti-Jewish policies, and the aftermath of the Holocaust.

University of California, Berkeley

UC Berkeley posts audio lectures to stream from its history course on European civilization from the Renaissance to the present. Audiorecordings of the lectures from different years are also available on iTunes.

Utah State University (USU)

USU has a compilation of video presentations from a half-day conference on poverty. The title of the conference is Western Rural Development.
