University of Nebraska-Lincoln
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is located just minutes from the state capital in the southeastern part of the state. Often called UNL, the university has been a beacon of higher education in the Northern Plains since its founding in 1869. There are currently 17,371 undergraduate students majoring in one of its 140 available fields of study. The Carnegie Foundation has recognized UNL as a Doctoral/Research Extensive university, demonstrating its stature as a premier institution. It is also currently ranked #91 in U.S. News and World Report. For students who enjoy athletics, the Cornhusker football team is a perennial favorite.
University of Nebraska at Omaha
Located in the heart of Nebraska's largest city, the University of Nebraska has a strong tradition of addressing the needs of commuter and returning adult students. University of Nebraska at Omaha's almost 15,000 students choose from a variety of courses of study, many of which are focused on business and computers as they relate to agriculture. One of UNO's many accolades since its founding in 1908 is its ranking among the top ten Entrepreneurial Colleges in the limited curriculum category by Entrepreneur magazine.
Creighton University
Creighton University is a private, Jesuit Catholic University located just outside Omaha, Nebraska's business district. The university was founded in 1908 and has since grown to have an undergraduate enrollment of 6,992 students. For a relatively small university, Creighton enjoys strong national attention; PC Magazine recognized the university in 2006 as the fifth most 'wired' campus in the country. Creighton's School of Dentistry is also renowned and includes one of the best clinical instruction facilities of any dental college.
University of Nebraska at Kearney
Founded in 1905 as a teacher's college, the University of Nebraska at Kearney officially became part of the University of Nebraska system in 1989. It is an outstanding regional institution, with an undergraduate population of 6,478 students from the surrounding central Nebraska area and beyond. The College of Education at UNK is recognized around the state as superbly preparing teachers and administrators; about 1/3 of all teachers and administrators in Nebraska are graduates of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Bellevue University
Bellevue University was founded in 1966 as a private institution in the community of Bellevue, in eastern Nebraska. Located in the greater Omaha metropolitan area, the school has a mission to attract and retain students from the surrounding low-income areas of Bellevue and South Omaha. Currently, there are 5,524 undergraduate students enrolled in the university; however, the institution is widely known throughout the area for providing adult and commuter students the chance to earn advanced business degrees in a non-traditional setting. It offers accelerated bachelor's, three-year bachelor's combining online and classroom learning and work experience and traditional four-year bachelor's programs.
