General Information about Goodwin College

Goodwin College currently serves about 1,600 students ranging from recent high school graduates to full-time professionals looking to advance their careers or acquire undergraduate training in a new area. The school also accepts credit for life experience allowing career-oriented individuals to complete academic programs ahead of schedule.

Originally a career training school, Goodwin became an accredited non-profit institution in 2004. Because the school's coursework is designed with the working professional in mind, distance learning and evening classes are available in all programs.

Admissions and Enrollment Information

Prospective Goodwin College students are encouraged to apply online. Separate applications are available for students interested in Goodwin's nursing program and selective admissions applications are required for other health services programs, including respiratory care and paramedic studies. For all other programs, students apply using the school's online form for general admission. Once a student is accepted, they are then able to register for courses in their desired program.

Degree Programs Offered by Goodwin College

Bachelor of Science Degree Programs

Goodwin offers only three B.S. degree programs.

The bachelor of science in child study program intends to train students how to work with children from birth through age 8 and their families in a variety of capacities. Courses cover topics like child development, the family dynamic and designing and implementing elementary curriculum..

The bachelor of science degree in health science is a versatile interdisciplinary program designed to provide career advancement opportunities to entry level health industry professionals. Four tracks of study are available, including environmental health, health care administration, bachelor degree completion, for students that would like to create their own career path and general interest, for students undecided about a specific health care profession.

The bachelor of science in nursing degree program is a RN to BSN program specifically designed for the Registered Nurse student who is interested in completing a baccalaureate degree. Students interested in the program are require to hold a Registered Nursing license in the state where clinical experience is to be completed.

Associate Degree Programs

Goodwin offers several associate degree programs, specifically designed with professionals in mind. Programs include business administration, early childhood education, human services, nursing, health sciences and medical assisting. Each of these programs contains a handful of specific concentrations which students can choose based on their individual interests.

Certificate Programs

Finally, several certificate programs are also available through Goodwin College. These programs are comprised of courses that will help professionals advance in their professional careers, or begin new ones. A certificate program is ideal for working adults who do not have the flexibility or time to devote to a full degree program.
