Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) is attended on campus and online by more than 14,000 students. The school was founded in 1875 and is now the fifth-largest university in Pennsylvania.

Distance Learning and Continuing Education

The college of Distance Learning and Continuing Education, formerly called the School of Continuing Education, was formed in 1966 and is dedicated solely to the non-traditional students at IUP; for example, working professionals who take night classes. A nationally recognized program called Great Decisions can be taken as a non-credit course; it is a live discussion forum addressing current world issues. Nearly all fields of study at the university have distance and online courses available.

Eberly College of Business and Information Technology

Touting over 13,000 alumni, the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology was ranked in the top 300 business schools in the U.S. by Princeton Review. The school claims that many of its graduates have acquired high-level positions in major corporations and accounting firms. The school offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in many fields of study, including accounting, technology support and management.

Education and Educational Technology

The Education and Educational Technology college has been with IUP since its conception in 1875, and now nearly 1,000 of its students become placed into early field experiences or student teacher positions. The school offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in 25 programs. Some of its departments include Counseling and Developmental Studies, Adult and Community Education, and Communications Media.

Fine Arts

What students have come to expect from the College of Fine Arts at IUP is a culturally and ethnically diverse world of performance and art. IUP's Performing Arts Center was opened in September 2008, and its state-of-the-art theater, Waller Hall, provides two performance spaces, offices, classrooms and technical studios for students of the arts. The college provides bachelor's and master's degrees in both art and music, and bachelor's degrees in theater and dance.

Graduate Studies and Research

The Graduate Studies and Research (GSR) college offers over 60 programs to the 2,000 graduate students attending IUP. A nationally recognized attribute of GSR iis its bevy of research opportunities, which often result in publication to scholarly journals. The college takes pride in its affordability and wide variety of subject matters, including adult education, literacy, food and nutrition, school psychology and communications media. Master's degrees, doctoral degrees and certificates are available through this college.

Health and Human Services

Health and Human Services at IUP takes pride in its 95% placement rate after graduation. Degree levels available are bachelor's, certificates and doctoral. The departments vary greatly, including the nationally acclaimed culinary arts program, employment and labor relations, criminology and hospitality management. Many departments within this college have high-tech facilities for hands-on learning; for example, a state-of-the-art simulation lab for nursing students, and an actual restaurant for hospitality management students to operate.

Humanities and Social Sciences

With 2,345 students enrolled, Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at IUP offers 15 departments of study, including Asian studies, sociology and journalism. With 54 majors available, the college delivers 25% of the graduate programs at IUP. CHSS takes pride in its faculty members, which comprise 50% of the Distinguished Faculty Research Award recipients. Several internships are available in each department, and the degree levels available are bachelor's, master's and doctoral.

Natural Sciences and Mathematics

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, doctoral degrees and pre-professional certificates. The college takes pride in its students winning all four Goldwater Scholarships, which distinguishes them among science students across the country. Some of the programs available are biochemistry, physics and geoscience.
