General Information about Macon State College

Macon is a public college of about 6,500 students, with a main campus in Bibb County and another in nearby Warner Robins, as well as a center at the Robins Air Force Base. Offering certificates, associate degrees and bachelor's degrees, it is central Georgia's largest undergraduate college.

The college began in 1965 as a two-year institution, and started granting baccalaureate degrees in 1996. Academic programs at Macon cover the liberal arts, physical sciences, business, education, health and social sciences. The associate degree programs can be transferred to another college in the University System of Georgia, for the completion of a bachelor's degree.

Admissions and Enrollment Information

Applications can be submitted in the mail and online. The college requires a high school transcript or GED test scores, and also schedules an advising session with first time students. The deadline for the fall semester is in middle July.

School of Arts and Sciences

This school has 23 fields, with departments including the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Topics such as English, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Engineering and Mathematics are covered. The school also has lecture series and faculty presentations, along with plenty of student engagement in the arts and sciences.

School of Business

At the School of Business, students can earn degrees in management, accounting, business and marketing. Classes are offered online, and the Robins Air Force Base also has a co-operative education program for students interested in business and information technology.

School of Education

The School of Business has Bachelor of Science degrees in middle grades education, as well as certificates in teaching specific subjects like English or math. One bachelor's degree combines early childhood education with special education, giving the student greater insight into both fields and a wider choice of careers.

School of Information Technology

Degrees at this school cover informatics, software development, information security and other aspects of information technology. Internships and co-operative education opportunities are also available.

School of Nursing and Health Sciences

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences offers degrees at the associate and bachelor's level. Programs include Nursing, Health Information Management, Health Services Administration and Respiratory Therapy.
